Questions and answers

What are Mallorcan olive-oil biscuits?

They are savoury or lightly sweet biscuits made from wheat flour, olive oil, lard, salt and yeast, and in newer versions with herbs, paprika, sesame or chia. Quely is one of the best-known brands alongside Rosselló and Gori de Muro.

Where does Quely come from and how old is it?

From Inca; according to the firm's tradition the history goes back to 1853, and the current factory was built in the 1930s and 1940s. The data are based on sources linked to the firm, so treat the 1853 date with caution.

Where can I buy Quely biscuits and are they a good gift?

In supermarkets and shops selling local products on the island; they are a light, long-lasting gift that Mallorcans themselves take home in their luggage.

What else is there in Inca?

Every year in November the Dijous Bo fair takes place, the biggest on the island.
