Festa de l'Estendard, Palma

Festa de l'Estendard

On 31 December Palma celebrates the Day of Mallorca: the anniversary of James I the Conqueror's entry into the city in 1229. The royal standard is raised on Plaça de Cort, a procession with music and horses walks to the cathedral, and after Mass the poem La Colcada is recited. One of the oldest festivals in Europe.
