Most varieties are harvested until March, but in Sóller the harvest lasts longer, even into August; the canoneta reaches peak ripeness in summer.

Where did the canoneta come from?

According to a children's book published by the Consell de Mallorca it came about around 1900 in the Can Canonet de les Fontanelles orchard through trials and grafting of a white orange; later the variety lost popularity, and farmers revived it.
